

Curtis Devon Holt, 93, recently of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and formerly of Thomasville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 21, 2014, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, in Rock Hill, SC.
A resident of Davidson County, NC most of his life, Mr. Holt was born July 2, 1921 in Eldorado, NC to the late Ralph McAulay Holt and Leatha Harris Holt. He worked for John Crowell of Thomasville, as a heavy equipment operator, as well as Thomasville Furniture Industries before retiring in August of 1986. Mr. Holt was a member of True Light Baptist Church in Lexington, NC. His Faith was never wavering and his love for Jesus Christ shone in his life and was seen by everyone. He was a true and steadfast servant for his Lord. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his son, Rickie K. Holt, two brothers, and two sisters.
On July 14, 1942, he was drafted into the US Army Air Corps, where he was stationed in Normandy, N. France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Eamet Campaign Medal with Four Bronze Stars as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge three years later, as a Corporal, Quartermaster Company. Mr. Holt was so very proud of his time in the Military and loved to speak to anyone about it and was often approached, recognized and thanked for his service. Shortly after Curtis returned from World War II, he married the love of his life, Margaret Dixon Holt, on December 22, 1945 in Danville, VA.
In addition to his wife Margaret, Mr. Holt is survived by his sons, Billy Holt and wife Donna Fullington Holt, and Gary Holt and wife Helen DeBerry Holt, all of Thomasville, NC; daughter, Letha Holt Guerra and husband Dio Guerra of Chester, SC; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Small Holt; and sister, Mrs. Doris Holt Cook of Denton, NC. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren; Bill Holt, Travis Holt, Mark Holt, Brent Holt, Courtney Holt Cardwell, all of Thomasville, Brittany Holt Gobble of Gainesville, GA, Zachary Guerra and Andrew Guerra of Chester, SC; seven great grandchildren, Justin Holt, Dakota Holt, Emily Holt, Amber Holt, Alton Holt, and Kayla Holt, all of Thomasville and Rickie Faith Gobble of Gainesville, GA; and one great-great grandchild Marley Holt also of Thomasville.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014, in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville, NC with Pastor Harold Harper officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
