He was born to Otho and Margaret Moody on September 26, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana. On September 28, 1962, he married Mary Ann Daniel, and they recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. God blessed them with two children. Donnell had a wonderful love for Christmas and was known for his beautiful yard display each Christmas season. He loved being outdoors, target shooting, playing horseshoes, and serving others. Donnell was a dedicated and faithful member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, usher, treasurer of the Brotherhood, and treasurer of his Sunday School class. He was a member of the Fair Grove Lions Club, where he served as a past President and also served his community as an associate at Thomasville Funeral Home. His love and devotion for his family was a beautiful example of a godly husband, father, paw, and friend with a servant’s heart.
In addition to his father, Donnell was preceded in death by brother, Ronald Eugene Moody and great granddaughter, Taylor Grace Jones.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Moody; his loving wife and caregiver, Mary Ann (Daniel) Moody; daughter, Christy Jones and husband Greg; son, Brent Moody and wife Joni; and sister, Rita Cox and husband Jim. Donnell was also blessed to have five grandchildren, Bryant Jones, Jennifer Mercado, Brandon Jones and wife Amber, Gary Kight, and Davis Moody; and six great grandchildren, Kaidence Jones, Melody Jones, Jake Reed, Brilee Jones, Emilia Mercado, and Emmett Jones.
A celebration of Donnell’s life will be held at 11 am Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Carolina Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Landreth and Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
