Elizabeth "Betty" Furbish Cheney
September 20, 1924 – June 16, 2018
Elizabeth “Betty” Furbish Cheney, 93, of Lexington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Betty was born on September 20, 1924 in Dover, New Hampshire, a daughter to the late Charles and Martha Foss Furbish. She had worked as a secretary for many years and was a phenomenal cook. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and friend and devoted her life to her Lord and Savior. Betty was also a dedicated member of Tyro United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregg Cheney and sister, Lois Alger. Surviving are her husband of over 72 years, Maynard Cheney of the home; two daughters, Marilyn McAfee and husband Jim and Jill Hollingsworth and husband Tom; three grandchildren, Joy, Lindsay, and Daniel; and four great grandchildren, Cora Beth, Deacon, Bear, and Natalie. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Friday, June 29, 2018 at Bethel Cemetery in Tyro with Rev. Randy Foster. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Alston Brook Nursing and Rehab as well as Hospice of Davidson County for their kind, loving care shown to Betty and her family.
