Elizabeth "Lib" Gamble Hughes

Elizabeth “Lib” Gamble Hughes, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

She was born in Davidson County on December 25, 1941 a daughter to the late Wade Gamble and Hazel Myers Laws. Lib dedicated her life to her family and was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church. She was married to Lester Hughes who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Raby.

Surviving are grandson, Robert Raby; son-in-law, Joe Don Raby and several cousins. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Fairgrove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Hulon Pait and Reverend Terry Boles officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm at Thomasville Funeral Home prior to the service.

The family would like to say a special “thank you” to the staff of Piedmont Crossing for all their wonderful care of Lib.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Of Davidson County.

I am so sorry about Libby's passing. I am going to miss seeing you girls coming to visit Libby. She so enjoyed your visits and so did I. You girls were the best to support her, especially since her Mother and Daughter passed and she had so few family members left that could come see her. Your faithfulness will be rewarded.
