Known to most as “Joe” or “Jack”, Mr. Teer was born in Guilford County November 11, 1923. He was the son of the late Herbert Lamb Teer and Frances Ethel Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine “Gerri” Monroe Teer, six brothers, and four sisters.
Joe faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medical with 1 Bronze Star, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 Bronze Star.
Joe was the City Engineer of Thomasville, NC and went on to own and operate EM Teer Land Surveyor Company alongside his wife, Gerri, for over 40 years.
Most of all, Joe was an amazing man who was dedicated to his family, his wife, and his daughters. His grandchildren adored him. If you were to ask Joe what his hobbies were, he would always say “my grandchildren” and they would heartedly agree. Joe was a faithful, humble servant of the Lord as he touched the lives of so many. People were drawn to him because of his sincere kindness and warmth.
“He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he kept the faith. Well done, My good and faithful servant”.
Surviving are his two daughters, Judy Norton and Vicki Nelson and her husband Randy; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 1 pm Friday, July 20 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home by Pastor Dwayne Hodges and Pastor David Emery.
