Ettie was born in Loganville, Georgia on March 9, 1923 to Joe Edmund Kines and Colera Jones Kines. She was an avid gardner, loved to raise flowers, enjoyed reading, traveling, and playing bingo. Ettie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was active in the Louise Moore’s Sunday School Class and Gospel Pioneers.
Ettie was Past Worthy Matron of Denton Chapter No. 216 OES. She also held the office of secretary for 22 years. As long as her health permitted, she continued to attend and held an office.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Younts on November 26, 2009. They were married on June 18, 1943 and celebrated over 66 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Amey K. Beck; and brothers, Roy Lamar Kines, James Kines, Lester Kines, and Harold Kines.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Younts (Cindy) of Lexington; sister, Lottie Beaumont of California; nieces, Betty Dye (Sonny), Cheryl Plummer (Phil), Nancy Conrad, all of Lexington, Melody Penn (John) and Jill Pono (Zack) of California; nephews, Aaron Younts (Patsy) of Thomasville, Beauford Kines (Teresa), Larry Kines, all of Lexington, and Jack Beaumont (Karen) of California.
A service to honor Ettie will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Symanski of Piedmont Crossing officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
