Mrs. Sowers was born on April 18, 1927 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Ken and Mary Williamson Francis. In 1950, Mrs. Sowers moved to Thomasville and married Charles Edward Sowers on New Year’s Day, 1951. She was affectionately known as “The Bakery Lady” at Tasty Bakery, where she had worked the counter for many years. She was also a devoted member of Hillside Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Sowers was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Patricia Sowers, four sisters, two brothers.
Surviving is her son, Eddie Sowers of High Point; granddaughter, Alicia Sowers Clodfelter and her husband Matt of Welcome; sister, Lois Francis of Pike County, KY; and her “grand dog”, Gizmo.
A celebration of Mrs. Sowers’ life will be held at 2 pm Monday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville NC 27360 with Pastors Dale Kinley and Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Brian Hulin, Brad Hulin, Rick Creasman, Craig Shoe, Marcus Tuttle, Brian Sapp and Honorary Pallbearer Tony Hulin.
