She met the love of her life, David Swanner, and married him on March 20th 1969. They welcomed three beautiful children and built a long and beautiful life together.
Over the years, Gloria worked at Charlotte Rehab Hospital, Montgomery Ward, Washburn Graphics/Cadmus Communications, Bank of America, and TIAA.
She loved the beach; it was her happy place. She also enjoyed Sudoku, cross-stitch, canning, travelling, glamping, and boating. She was at peace when she was near or on the water.
She never met a stranger and touched lives everywhere she went.
Gloria is survived by her husband, David Swanner of Thomasville; children, David Swanner (Jessica) of Stanfield, Beverly Swanner (Doug) of Lexington, Greg Swanner (Michelle) of Indian Trail; numerous grandkids and great-grandkids; brother-in-law, Keith Swanner; sisters-in-law, Vicki Eudy and Sue Swanner; numerous nieces and nephews; and as always, her beloved Penny & Lucy.
She was a light in the darkness, a safe haven to all who loved and were loved by her. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Gloria's life will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Sechrest-Davis Funerals & Cremations, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville, NC.
