Hazel was born in Davidson County on April 24, 1935 a daughter to the late Lola Carson Scarlette and Ila Carleen Crouse Scarlette. She worked most of her life in furniture manufacturing and attended West End United Methodist Church. She was known as ‘grandma” to the whole neighborhood where she lived most of her life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leon Turner; and a son, Timothy Eugene Baity.
Surviving are daughters, Carmen Russell, Pamela Pelfrey and husband Rickey; sister, Kathleen Hughes; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Myra Ward Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. The family ask that you come as you are casual dress.
