Robert was born in Spartanburg, SC January 20, 1950, a son of the late Leonard and Willie Mae Moore Sanders. He an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Robert was a retired self-employed contractor and was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Beck Sanders. Robert enjoyed going to the coast to fish and spending time with his family.
Surviving are a daughter, Crystal Sanders of Thomasville; two sons, James Robert Sanders, Jr. and Justin David Sanders and his wife Sabrina, both of Thomasville; grandchildren, Adam Michael Sanders, Allyssa Danielle Lemonds, Jayme Nicole Sanders, Kourtney Anne Sanders and Brent Michael Sanders, his cat, Rowdy and his grand-dog, Squirrel.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph St. and at other times the home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County. Online condolences may be made at www.ThomasvilleFH.com.
