K-9 Cheko began his career with the Thomasville Police Department on October 4, 2004. K-9 Cheko was originally bred and trained in the country of Hungary and held an IPO-1 title while in Hungary. K-9 Cheko was imported to the USA via Castle K9 and received his certification with the North American Police Work Dog Association. K-9 Cheko continued to earn his yearly certification with his most recent in September 2010.
Cheko is survived by his beloved partner Sergeant John Elgin and his wife Kim; and all his Police family at Thomasville Police Department.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Thomasville Funeral Home with Reverend Bynum Orr officiating.
