

Lonnie Lee "Maynard" Greenwood, a devoted, hard-working, kind-hearted, cherished, and wise man, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 28, 1942, Lonnie, affectionately known as Maynard, was a native of Loris, South Carolina, and the son of the late Leonard Greenwood and Mazell Martin Greenwood. In 1963, Maynard made Thomasville, North Carolina, his home.
Maynard dedicated 35 years of service with Commercial Carving before retiring from FurnitureLand South. His career was a testament to his diligence and commitment.
In May of 1971, Maynard married Nettie Mae Jackson, who predeceased him in 2019. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Cody, and her husband Eric; two grandchildren, Corey McDonald and his wife Julie, and Erin Cody; and two great-grandchildren, Haven McDonald and Bentley McDonald. He also leaves behind two sisters, Eula Mae Nance and Lois Ann Watts; a brother, Eddie Greenwood, Sr., and his wife Cathy; along with several extended family members and friends.
Maynard had a passion for deep sea fishing and enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He was an avid collector, having amassed 32 five-gallon buckets of can tabs. His interests also included scrapping metal and junk.
A man of faith, Maynard loved reading his Bible and listening to southern gospel music. He was a devoted member of the Thomasville Church of God for 60 years.
A Celebration of Maynard's life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Thomasville Church of God, officiated by Pastor Alan Greene. The family will receive friends following the service until 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners' Hospital or St. Jude.
