Mary Sikes Meredith

Mrs. Meredith was preceded in death by her husband, Jules B. Meredith; an infant, Thomas E Meredith; and four siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Corinne (Jim) Balthrop of Springfield, and Lisa (Wendell) Ban Landingham of Ocala, Florida. Also surviving is a stepson, J. Blair Meredith of Fayetteville, North Carolina, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mrs. Meredith was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 9, 1910, as Mary Elizabeth Sikes. She went to get a degree in music at UNCG and taught piano, chorus, choir and voice at various times in her life. After marrying in 1944, she and her husband eventually settled in Memphis. She lived there until 1982 when she moved to Springfield. She was a Methodist.

In lieu of flowers gifts can be made to the Gorham MacBane Capital Fund or the Gorham MacBane Large Print Library.

The family wishes to thank many of her sitters throughout her decline. Special thanks to the loving attention she received from the staff at Christian Care Center.

A graveside service will be at 4:00 pm on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery, Trinity, North Carolina.

Thomasville Funeral Home will assist the family.
