Otha “Lee” Ferrell, age 87 died on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Westwood Heath and Rehabilitation Center of Archdale, NC. He was born on April 21, 1936 in Thomasville, NC to Floyd Lee Ferrell and Amie Elizabeth Holshouser Ferrell.
He graduated from Thomasville High School in 1954. After graduation, he attended Ashemore Business School and worked at Efird’s Department Store in Thomasville. In 1958, he joined the United States Air Force serving in Texas, Mississippi, Greenland and Germany. In 1967, he left the Air Force and began his career with Unisys Corporation for the next 22 years. He later worked at Staples in High Point until his retirement.
He was a longtime resident of Raeford, NC and raised his family there. Lee was such a character and always telling a joke. He lived life to the fullest and always had a funny story to share. He loved his sons and was always there to offer advice or have a long conversation about his past experiences.
He was always actively involved in his church. While a member of Charity PFWB, he served as Chairman, Board of Trustees, Building Committee and Treasure. In later years, he was a member of Bethel Global Methodist Church.
Lee is survived by three sons, Alan Ferrell and wife Rebecca of Newton, NC, Eric Ferrell and wife Carol-Sue of Wagram, NC, Clint Ferrell of Raeford, NC; his beloved sister Nancy Ferrell of Thomasville, NC; grandsons Douglas and wife Kathleen of Wagram, NC, Kyle and wife Rebecca of Odenton, Maryland and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Otha Ferrell.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville, NC 27360 on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
