Rhonda June Johnson, 56, passed away November 9th, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Rhonda was born in Riverside, CA to the late Betty Hawk & Don Keller. Rhonda was known to be seen at any local bingo hall, any state/country she was in, with a table full of bingo cards and 2 fists of bingo daubers waiting for her lucky turn to yell ”BINGO!”. And then tell you all about how close she was to winning the big one last night. She was always at peace with a fishing pole in one hand and a bucket full of minnows beside her. Music. She loved music. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved music. She could be heard almost every day, when she could, singing the tunes of Tanya Tucker, Patsy Cline or even the occasional Willie Nelson. Some of her favorites, and you can ask her children, were Rocky Top, Texas When I Die, and a great one from the Andy Griffith Show You Get A Line I’ll A Pole. She loved her family and she loved to laugh, or make you laugh is more like it. Sitting around the kitchen talking about the good old days is where they were anytime they were together.
She is survived by her husband Walter Harold Johnson Jr. Her Daughters and son in law Gloria Danielle “DeDee” Johnson, Tanya Peterson and Brian Peterson. Her only grandchild Vada Nicole Praytor. Her Brother and Sister Richard Freels and Vickie Brotherton of Oklahoma. Her nieces and nephew Yolanda Wilson and Shane Verbruggen both of Oklahoma, and Daphne Irvin of California.
Her family is not morning a wife, mother, sister , aunt, or best friend. But instead, are celebrating a life of a woman that use to enjoy life, when she could, and had a smile that was infectious. May peace be with you, Rhonda.
