

A resident of this area all of his life, Mr. Embler was born on June 10,1924 in Guilford County, North Carolina to the late Roscoe and Marilla Embler. Mr. Embler faithfully served his country in World War II, where he received two purple hearts. For over 30 years, he was a truck driver for Quality Packaging Corporation, formerly Dixie Container and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed racing, spending time with his family, and cherished his wife of over 68 years, Jean Embler, who preceded him in death in 2015. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two children, Steve Embler and Rebecca Plowucha; and siblings, Larry, Inez, and Edna.
Survivors include: his daughter, Amy Embler of Winston-Salem; sons, Dean Embler and his wife Sheila of Linwood, and Michael Embler and his wife Jan of Wilkesboro; daughter-in-law, Pam Embler; son-in-law, Stan Plowucha; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Holland “Mel” Embler of High Point.
A celebration of Mr. Embler’s life will be held at 10 am Friday July 29th in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Rev. Dr. James Summey officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday, July 28th at the funeral home.
