Mike was a lot of fun when fishing, hunting or just riding bikes. Motorcycles were a big part of Mikes life and he was always up for a good ride. Shooting pool and hanging with friends was another of Mikes favorite activities and often was a big part of gatherings where good food and fun were involved. We spent a lot of time shooting, skiing, hunting, camping and fishing when the kids were small. Mike took me on my first deer hunt. I had forgotten how much fun it was to climb trees. Mike was a kind soul at heart and would do anything to help a friend in need. He left way to early, but lived life to it's fullest and didn't mind burning the late night oil if someone in need called for help. He was a good father, husband and will be missed by all that knew him. Hope to see Mike again someday on the other side. Blessings to his family and friends.

I first met Mike when I was about 11 yrs old. At the time, he had just moved in with his sister Debbie and her husband Carlyle, which were our next door neighbors; and little did he know at that time that his life long love and best friend in the world would turn out to be  “the girl next door” . When Mike and Donna started dating, they would spend time in the swing in the back yard, laughing and cuddling, and I spent a lot of time (being the nosey kid that I was) peeking at them from our kitchen window, hehe. I remember Mike driving an old '57 Chevy, that was multi colored primer, I guess he was about 20 yrs old at that time; but his passion was not in cars, but in “bikes”! He rode a chopper back then, it was the 70's after all. Mike and Donna put in a lot of “seat time” riding in the wind. They loved going places with friends and family through the years, and I used to enjoy hearing the stories
about the places they rode to and the people they met along the way. Mike was always a “hoot” to be around, he was always positive, easy going, loved to have fun, and a big kid at heart! He didn't let too much shake his tree, so to speak; unless someone messed with his friends or family. Mike was always like “my big brother”, anyone that was around him long enough knew how protective he was of his family and friends. Mike and Donna came to my rescue many, many times when I was growing up, and any time I called they dropped everything they were doing and came to my rescue, “wow, words could never express the thankfulness in my heart for all they did for me!” When Gary and I were married, Mike and Donna used to come to our house and was willing to sleep on the floor on Christmas Eve, so they could be there when Kimberly woke up to open her gifts, now that's love! I remember when Donna and Mike moved to Carolina Beach, Kimberly went to stay with them one summer. She had so much fun, living the life of a “beach bunny”, that's how we referred to them back then. When she came home that summer, all she wanted to do was go shopping, fishing, and bare foot. And she couldn't stop talking about “George “ the alligator!
There are so, so many stories I could tell about the wonderful memories of Mike we have, like the target practice down at the creek. Mike was an excellent shot by the way. We used to ski and go boating together, naturally fishing, and camping, as well as riding bikes together. The pig pickings and cookouts, the turkey shoots were all fun times and he was also a good cook. Amy and I was just talking tonight about when her and Samantha, (Mike's pride and joy) were little, they would pull up to a turkey shoot and set in the car while Mike zipped in and out in about 15 minutes with a turkey in one hand and a smile on his face, something only Mike could do, :o) Even though Mike is no longer with us, our hearts and minds will forever be full of love and wonderful memories we will treasure forever!! MIKE WAS A GOOD FRIEND.THE 70S 80S ON UP. THE LAST TIME I SAW MIKE WAS WITH DONNA THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE.IN WALMART IN THOMASVILLE.I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND MISSED THE SERVICE. GOD BLESS DONNA. SAMANTHA.FAMILY.WEVE LOST A GOOD MAN.

I met Mike when I was in my teens at Carolina Beach.He was like a father figure to me and one of my most valued  friends.He taught me all I know about working on cars and so much more about life in general.We use to have all kinds of fun from fishing on the north end to the south end and even camping at times.A man who didnt have a mean bone in his body.Ok maybe a couple Especially the crab toes.Maybe Donna and Samantha will remember "crab toes."Anyway I will forever remember you Mike and I love you man.

Uncle Mikey was and always will be special to me. when I was young,before my teenage years.I would go fishing with Mikey, Robert, My dad, Buddy and numerous others. I have so many stories I could tell. As I got older I would go hang out with Mikey. I was lucky enough for hime and Donna to live right up the street. He helped me out of a lot of stuff and I know if were to call him at ant time he would drop what he was doing and come help me out of a jam. We surely lost a one of a kind uncle and friend. I Love you Mikey and you will surely be missed. Also, Donna and Samantha, I Love you guys as well.

Mike is my little brother.We had a bond no one could break.I miss him each and every day and his phone call to me everyday.I love him soooo very much,looking forward to the day Ill see him again.Thank you dear God for answering prayers

Someone once said, "Enjoying the journey is even better than arriving at the destination."  Well, I don't know if that is true, but I know that Mikey enjoyed the journey.  And perhaps it is the experiences and the people we meet along the way that make the destination so much sweeter.  We traveled all over this country together, we saw some bumpy roads, some smooth highways, and some in the fast lane, but there was always a bonded trust there.  We didn't have to look very far for help along the way.  I held the pride of his life just after she was born and watched her grow to an amazing young lady with characteristics of both her mom and dad.  I am proud to call Mike and his family my friends, although they have always been like family....and will be forever.

Mike was my best friend and I miss him so much. We had a lot of good times and great times together. As I look through the photo albums each picture brings back sweet memories. I am glad I have a lot of pictures that reflect our life together. Mike cared for everyone he came in contact with. He had such a good heart. He never forgot about any of his friends at home, at the beach or the many friends he worked with in other states. His family was very important to him. He often spoke of the fun times hanging around the junk yard and building cars with his cousins and Bud. His favorite saying was to each their own. I don't recall him saying anything negative about anyone. He was a great dad and had a big influence on Samantha. She is the mirror image of Mike. She will graduate from college May 2014 as a Construction Engineer. Mike was very proud of Samantha and supported her in anything she wanted to do. Mike and Samantha even built a car together.
Mike is and will always be the only true love of my life.

One time we found an alligator in the yard (which we later named george) and aunt donna was freaking out and my uncle mike was cool as a cucumber! He said " donna just call animal control, hes scared of us too. He wont hurt us" ... And he didnt..

We used to go to the beach and when i fished all i would catch were crabs and he would take them off the line for me because i was too scared...hahaja

We just heard of Mike's passing.  He was  a wonderful friend and taught anyone who knew him to enjoy every bit of every day.  Our thoughts are with the family.   We will certainly treasure all our fond memories of him.
