Mr. Terry Wayne Horton, age 68, passed away on October 25, 2026. Born February 25, 1958, in Hillsville, VA, Terry was the son of the late George Robert and Hattie Bell Jones Horton. He resided in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
A steady, hard-working man, Terry spent his career in landscaping as a tree worker until his retirement. He carried himself with quiet wisdom and a thoughtful way of being—never one to make a show of what he did, yet always willing to give of himself. Though a man of few words, Terry had a gift for letting his care be known through simple, meaningful actions that spoke volumes. Even in life’s weightier moments, his gentle humor could bring light, and those who knew him best will remember how deeply cherished they felt in his presence.
Terry was a private person who didn’t want others to worry. His world was his family, and he especially loved time with his grandchildren. Fishing, being out in the yard, cookouts, and sleepovers were among his favorite pastimes—ordinary moments made lasting by his selfless attention and generous heart.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, George Robert and Hattie Bell Jones Horton, and his grandchild, Dominique Vaughan.
Survivors left to cherish Terry are his six children: Michael Robinson, Robert Robinson, Steve Horton, Casey Vaughan, Kimberly Horton, and Kayla Vaughan; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington, NC.
The family is under the care of Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations of Thomasville, NC.
