Tony Horne

Born in Mullins, South Carolina on January 15, 1956 to the late Benjamin Thomas Horne and Mable Susan Rogers Horne. He was one of seven children and his early years were filled with lessons of hard work, perseverance, and service to family and others.

At the age of seventeen, he committed his life to Jesus. He spent all of his adult years following him, studying Scripture, and sharing the Gospel with everyone he met. At the age of nineteen, he accepted his calling to ministry and became a pastor, evangelist, and teacher to many. He steadfastly ministered for fifty-one years. He loved learning and earned doctorates in theology and philosophy from North Carolina College of Theology. His passion for God’s word never dwindled. Despite hardships and trials, he remained faithful to Jesus and his calling until his final breath. He was met with the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

On September 8, 1985, he married the love of his life and best friend, Christy Waterhouse Horne. Together they shared two daughters: Jordan and Ashlin. He was a dedicated husband and father, who joyfully loved his family. He was always a trusted confidante, wise counselor, entertainer, and abundant provider of candy and hugs. His family was his greatest joy and he never failed to let them know they were loved. Of all his roles, his most precious was being Pop to his six grandchildren: Ephram, Banner, Axel, Abbott, Emmakate and Noralei. His humor, affection, kindness, and joy lives on in each of them.

Tony will be remembered for his faith, generosity, laughter, and unyielding determination to love God and love others.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Harold Wayne Rogers, Clark Franklin Rogers and Bobby Horne; two sisters Darlene Hatton and Phyllis Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Christy Horne; daughters, Jordan (James) Barnes and Ashlin (Matthew) Boyles; his sister, Gloria Briles, his cousins, many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.

A graveside service celebrating Tony’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2026 at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. We invite those who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his memory.
