Alberto was a devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Filomena, and father to his daughters, Mary (Frank), Rosanna (Mauro), Daniela (Dwight) and Antonella (Virgilio). Nonno Alberto was loved by his thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Sammy (Erica), Josie (Loreto), Caroline (Lucas), Sabrina, Joseph (Jessica), Annie, Andrew (Stefania), Bianca, Eric, Sofia (Jordan), Laura (Gabriel), Lisa, David and Valerie.
Alberto came to Canada at the age of seventeen from Villa Santa Maria, Chieti, Italy. He worked passionately as a chef for decades before fulfilling his lifelong dream of opening his own family restaurant, Alberto’s Trattoria. He built the foundations for a life upon which his family proudly stands. Alberto leaves behind lessons of hard work, the importance of family and generosity.
His family finds comfort in his serendipitous passing on La Festa della Madonna in Basilica, an annual festival of his hometown, sharing the name of his mother and honouring the church in which his father helped build.
Alberto lived humbly and with a great strength of will; he will be missed beyond measure. He joins now, his daughter, brothers and parents at rest.
The family would like to thank all who offered their support during this difficult time. A special thanks to Alberto’s caregivers, Myra, Cristy, Tsega, Nurse Niloosar and Nurse Carol for their dedicated efforts in his care.
