I have missed Anita and her commeraderie. She taught her coffee servers so well. 
A good friend...sorely missed.

I remember Anita so fondly from Sunnybrook and how timely I’ll be volunteering in the Veteran’s Centre today, two years after her passing. Rest in peace dear Anita.

Anita's commitment to serving our veterans at Sunnybrook for more than 45 years is awe-inspiring!  Her caring, dedication and the thousands of hours she gave to improving their quality of life was so special.  She indeed had many friends and colleagues at Sunnybrook - veterans, staff, and other volunteers.  She was a strong advocate for our veterans, and dedicated her time to not only providing service to them, but also training, scheduling and coordinating other volunteers to do so.   Her spirit of volunteerism and caring nature,  was inspiring and you should be proud of her many accomplishments.  We were very sorry to learn of her illness and passing, however, know that she will be fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched in such a positive way.

This was Thanksgiving 2021 when we could all get together for the first time in 2 years. We had a great day. Anita was so happy to catch up with all her nieces and nephews of all ages

Anita and I were “Coffee Buddies” for 20 years.
Every Tuesday we’d meet for coffee or Lunch 
and pass the time meandering in a mall.

She was always there to help out a friend, 
neighbour or family member with a little assistance.

One could depend on her for a ride to the grocery store,
or doctor’s appointment, taking care of a pet or a grandchild,
watering plants, whatever … all you had to do was ask.

Anita was a lovely lady with a big heart.

I will miss my neighbour and good friend.


During my visits in Canada in 1983 and 1987 I spent a lot of time with Aunt Anita. I also went to Sunny Brook with her to serve coffee and cookies. During that time I learned english so well, that I never had to learn for English Exams any more. Most of this I owe to her and and I am very thankful for it. I often think of that time and I will always remember her.

As the Class Representative of the HSC '57 Nursing graduates, I informed the Alumnae that I had lost contact with Anita. Sadly , they informed me of Anita's death.
On behalf of Anita's nursing classmates, I send our warmest condolences to her family and friends.

I was so sad to hear of Anita's passing. She was such a lovely, kind, and charitable person. Anita was exceptionally kind to me at a difficult time in my life -- for which I shall always remember her and remain grateful. My heartfelt condolences to all whom she loved and held her dear. 

Anita worked as a community nurse for many years. This is her graduation photo.

Anita loved the outdoors especially gardens. We managed her 87th birthday on a beautiful sunny day with the garden in full bloom.  We will remember you with every bloom on your geraniums which can now grow in the Bolton garden. 

A chorus of voices to the devastating loss of our beloved Anita who was so important in all our lives: Helen, Jane, George, Rosemary and Alex and all the Veteran Volunteers.



Anita loved her Tim's visits. Coffee and raisin tea biscuits were the favourite go to. Our last visit just after Christmas will be a special memory.  

Anita was a kind and caring person. She had a special place in her heart for those with special challenges. She and Gabi had fun times together as Gabi grew up. Gabi will miss her.

Thankfully we remember our two wonderful holidays in Canada together with Anita and Ernest. We stayed in their apartment and they showed us Quebec. We visited their cottage and saw their bird paradise. Anita was a cheerful and very friendly and attentive host. In the evening we talked about God and the world. 
Anita will not be forgotten. 

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Anita. She was always friendly and gave good advice when asked. I will miss her support, friendly smile and loving personality.



During my first visit in Canada I celebrated my 18th birthday.
Aunt Anita bought me a cute little silver broche showing a maple leaf. I loved going shopping with my aunt to chose this present. Since then I sometimes wear it (for more than 40 years now) and I remember my Canadian aunt who adored to find and buy things she could give to people she loved. This characteristic shows so well that she was a very caring and loving person. 
The good Lord will bless you for this, Anita!

My mom (Rita) and I have been reminiscing and sharing memories together.  Your mom was always full of life and energy, infectious to those around her.

As a child, Anita spent many weekends with my mom and her brother Al at the family cottage in Meaford. My mom shares the memory of riding their bikes through Meaford, swimming in the bay and hanging out at our Grand parent's house on Cook St (picture attached, approximately 1943) Very carefree days.

Anita and my mom volunteered together on Monday mornings at Sunnybrook for 34 years. She always enjoyed helping the veterans and being able to work together.  Anita was so passionate about the work and helping others. The veterans were lucky to have her serve them their treats.

I have memories of staying with you when my parents traveled, going on shopping trips in your family Volvo (I loved those cars for some reason) and later our Christmas dinners with all of the cats and dogs through the years.

My mom will miss their coffee dates and being able to pick up the phone to chat.  

Anita will be missed.

Though I did not know Anita all that well I can truly say that she was a beautiful, one of a kind soul. Sending healing prayers and wishes of love to the entire family. May she rest peacefully in God’s eternal embrace. 

I met Anita just over seven years ago when volunteering on her team serving coffee in K Wing at Sunnybrook on Tuesday afternoons. During that special time, it was a blessing to get to know her as a dedicated, compassionate leader and friend as we shared other interests in common: nature, cottages, our cats and families where her radiance truly shone. Thank you for showing the way of service Anita, I’m really going to miss you.

Fortunately I was in Toronto in late summer and I made a POINT of going out to lunch with Anita, we decided to go alone, just the two of us.  I’m so glad I got that special time with her!
(I’m a friend from College St United Church and Anita and I are both members of Hazel and Jim Boyle’s household.)

Anita always tried to ensure that our beloved Veterans were well served with coffee,  tea and biscuits. We will miss her.


Anita, I'll miss coming in to K-Wing and seeing your lovely smile every week, for 25 years of my time at Sunnybrook.  Your patience and pride  were always  on display  as you tended to your flock each week. !
  Now as I look through the photo album, I see how blessed you were with family and loved ones who were truly your life.  You've left them all with treasured memories.  Rest in peace my friend.

Fond memories talking to your mom whenever we saw her. She was always so cheerful and pleasant. She loved having a chat about her family and asking about ours. She will always be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. 💕 

I sang with Anita for many years in the Toronto Classical Singers. She was such a faithful member. I admired the strength she showed after her husband passed, and she pushed herself to get back into her activities, even though I'm sure there many dark cold nights when driving  to and from choir seemed daunting.
She encouraged me to volunteer at Sunnybrook Veteran's, which I did, where she was an absolute pillar of strength and organization. 
She gave and accomplished a great deal wherever she chose to apply her many talents. I'll think of her often.

I sat beside Anita in our choir for several years and always enjoyed singing and chatting together.  She made our rehearsal evenings a great pleasure and I will miss her.

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Anita's passing.  Anita and I met in 1960 while singing in the choir at St. Georges United Church, Toronto.  My husband Adrian and I spent many special times at Anita and Ernest's cottage over the years.   While dining on their patio, discussions included a wide range of topics from music, gardening, world issues along with the love of nature and animals.  My condolences to Robert and  family and their friends.
