Peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Friday March 28, 2014 in his 91st year. Tom Boyd, brother of Barbara Smith and John Boyd will be remembered by his nieces and nephews Wayne, Bruce, Stephen, Matthew, Denyse, Hugh, Laura and James. Tom saw active service overseas in World War II as a tank driver serving proudly with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers Regiment of the 27th Canadian Armored Regiment. After the war, Tom played a key role in the design and construction of the monument located in Buron, France that acknowledged his regiment's sacrifice. Tom enjoyed spending time fishing at his cottage at Jackson's Point, then Honey Harbour. Tom's ability of recall from time past and his mass array of sayings will be sadly missed. The family is grateful for Dr. Michael Law, who provided exceptional health care to Tom for the past several years and is appreciative for the compassionate and loyal home care provided by Noemi Pasion and Sheilla Gemino. A private memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorial donations can be made to the Toronto Humane Society.
