His passing creates a void that is impossible to fill but we will always cherish the blessed memories of our beloved son, husband, father and friend.
Artur is survived by his grieving parents, Jozef and Elżbieta, his loving wife, Cortney, his wonderful 5-year-old son, Damian, his amazing stepsons, Jacob and Rainn and his other family members including Ania (Dominik), Ewelina, Daniel, Magdalena Marzena, Andrzej, Tymek, (Poland) Renata, Robert, Julia, Dominik (England), Paweł, Jacek (England), Aunt Maria and Uncle Andrzej (Poland) and nephew Alexander, (Vancouver). Artur is predeceased by his grandparents, Jan and Wanda Rafalko and Helena and Kazimierz Wasilewski, his Aunt Janina Serwin and his Uncles, Jaroslaw Rafalko and Jan Wasilewski.
Artur was born in Tczew, Poland on January 5th, 1983 and was a smart, happy and precious God-given gift to his parents, Jozef and Elzbieta. Through great dedication, hard work and solid efforts, the family permanently moved to Canada via Vancouver and Chicago in 1989 and settled in the London, Ontario area. As a boy, Artur was very active and fun-loving, and enjoyed fishing, badminton, skating and bicycling with his parents. As Artur grew older, he became an avid, championship-level Judo practitioner, an excellent rugby player and an exceptionally talented fisherman. Artur was such a good fisherman, in fact, that his dad used to say; ‘if Artur can’t catch the fish, there are no fish in that river’.
Artur’s rods and reels were some of his prized possessions, second only to his precisely maintained, spotless Harley Davidson motorcycle. Artur and his parents would often go riding on their Harleys together, enjoying the open road, their summer fishing camp, the beauty of sunsets and the magnificence of nature. Many an evening was spent in front of a roaring fire, enjoying good food, good company and making good memories.
Once Artur completed his secondary school education, he attended Ryerson University and also completed the Mechanical Engineering Technologies Program at Centennial College. After many years of hard work and dedication, Artur rose in his profession to become the Shop team Leader and Calibration Manager, Service, for Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly System Canada.
As he became more established, Artur’s interests changed from fishing and motorcycles to his love for a family of his own. Artur met Cortney, the love of his life, and they were blessed with their most treasured son, Damian. Artur loved his family more than words can say and cherished his son with all his heart. Artur was an amazing, completely dedicated, loving father to Damian; attending his every first day of school, helping Damian reel in his first fish, giving him the best ‘splish-splash’ baths, wearing matching pyjamas, staying in the river swimming until Damian was finished despite being exhausted, and walking beside him on the sidewalks as Damian ‘drove’ around on his own little battery-operated vehicle. Artur even experimented with cooking for his little family, to have some fun for everyone. Artur’s little family would often visit their grandparents, at the fish camp, at their houses and enjoy games, food, fun, and lots of laughter. It was beautiful. These are the memories of our cherished Artur that will last many lifetimes.
Artur will be so deeply missed by his all of his family and friends- he was a golden, beautiful ray of sunshine and warmth in all our lives. We will never forget his amazing love and life and will do our best to celebrate and honor his memory through joy, companionship, love and support for his beautiful little family and for each other. May God Bless Us All.
Rest in Peace our dearest son, husband, father and friend. We will meet again. We miss you.
