Audrey Mary Southey

SOUTHEY, Audrey Mary. Peacefully in her 94th year on Monday September 9th , 2019 in the comfort of her home. Beloved wife of the late Fred. Dear mother of Susan Teskey and her husband Mark and Jane Southey and her husband Rob Gordon. Loving grandmother of Sean, Kevin, Sara, Turner and Hudson “Bubba”. Great-grandmother of Mila and Macy. She will be missed by her dear friends Jim, Brenda and Jeremy Holden. She was the cherished mom of her fur baby Dixie.

Audrey was the only child of Horace and Kate. She had an idyllic childhood growing up in Newbury just outside London. Although WWII impacted her life, it provided her with the opportunity to meet Fred Southey at a local dance. After the war and madly in love, Audrey followed Fred to Canada where they were married. Audrey missed her parents so desperately that they came to Canada and never returned to England. After the sudden death of her beloved mother, her father continued to live with the young couple. After saving enough money they started their own business, Mayfair Drapery, which is still operating today. Audrey worked alongside Fred in their business for many years but she still found time to travel, sun bathe and shop. Neither work nor children curbed her style. She was beautiful, and stylish and she loved life. She enjoyed over 60 years of marriage with Fred who predeceased her by 9years. She will be remembered as engaging and elegant. She kept up with the latest news and fashion trends, always dressed to the nines and beautifully made up. She had a wonderful life full of good fortune and laughter. At the age of 93 she died peacefully in her sleep. Who could ask for anything more?
