He was born to parents Benito and Acracia Munoz on August 15, 1930 in Los Barrios, Spain. Aurelio immigrated to Canada in 1963 after spending 3 years in England. Aurelio was drawn to Canada by the ship building industry where his skills as a draftsman were highly regarded. After a short contract in Quebec City, he eventually settled in St. Catharines where he worked at Port Weller Dry Docks and Robertson Building Systems.
He married Encarnacion “Nita”, the love of his life, in 1960, who survives him. Aurelio is also survived by son Benito Munoz and wife Lisa, daughter Sonia Munoz and husband Derek and son Anthony Munoz and wife Christine. He was a doting grandfather to four amazing granddaughters - Jessica, Natasha, Amanda and Rachel.
Aurelio was known for his passion of science and nature. Anyone who spent any time with him would quickly learn that post-secondary education was mandatory and it was critical to continue learning. This was something he did right to the end of his life. It was amazing that he never ever stopped thinking about the cosmos.
A private gathering will be held for immediate family. Aurelio’s wishes were to make donations in support of Parkinson’s Disease, in lieu of sending flowers. Condolences www.rskane.ca
