

Having just celebrated her 93rd birthday with family and friends while in hospital recovering from a fall and subsequent strokes, Bea passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Hospital in Richmond Hill. Born into the loving arms of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Colpitts (Austin and Beatrice Bleakney), and her older sisters Marjorie, Elva, and Billie, who subsequently became her closest travel companions throughout her life as they traversed Africa, China, Australia, the Galapagos Islands, Switzerland, Europe, Ireland, and the Himalayas. She loved sports such as alpine and cross-country skiing, skating, canoeing, and badminton, book clubs, bridge clubs, exercise classes, tai-chi and yoga classes, competitive Quartet Singing and Church Choir. She will be sorely missed by many friends and family, and her children, sons Russell (Catherine Tucker), Scott (Heidi Maxwell), and Stephen, and daughter Terry; and the special lights of her life, her grandchildren Carly and Miranda. A Celebration of Life Service in honour of Beatrice to be held Saturday, March 5th beginning at 3pm, Thornhill United Church, 25 Elgin Street, Thornhill, L3T 1W5.
