

We are sad to announce that Charles ("Chuck") died peacefully at North York General Hospital on April 14th, in his 83rd year, following a courageous fight with cancer. Charles continued to be active through his illness and chemo treatments and continued to host, as 'Patriarch', many family gatherings as he had for more than thirty years. Charles was born in Glendale, New York on February 15, 1932. His parents were Charles Joseph and Rose Ignatius (Donahue). He was predeceased by his loving wife Marian (Runte) and his sister Rosemarie (Maher). He leaves his children Mark (Madelyn), Michael (Michelle), Steven (Barbara), Gregory and Jennifer. His grandchildren Sarah, Sean, Kaitlin, Erin and Keira will miss their "Pop-Pop" who was an indelible presence in their lives. Charles served in the U.S. navy in the 1950's during the last years of the Korean War. He graduated from Manhattan College with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy, obtained an M.B.A. from Wharton and was a C.G.A. He worked for RCA and Corning Glass before moving his family to Thornhill in 1967. Over the past 20 years he was President of his own accounting company. Visitation will be Easter Sunday, April 20, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke's Church, on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church (39 Green Lane).Thanks to North York General, Drs. Robson, Horvath and staff.
