Gord passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side at Princess Margaret Hospital. For five years Gord fought a courageous battle with myelodysplasia and leukemia. He will be missed beyond words by his beloved wife Carole of 44 years, his loving sons David (Laura) and Kevin (Cathie), and dear grandchildren Adrienne, Graham and Brendan. He will also be sadly missed by his dear brother Ed (Sharon), sister-in-law Dianne, nephews Charlie and Gerry, and niece Laura. Gord had a distinguished career for 39 years as an Executive with Ontario Hydro. Throughout his life he was very active with Rotary for 38 years. Most recently, he was the President of Aplastic Anemia & Myelodysplasia Association of Canada (AAMAC) and was on the Board of Directors of Canadian Blood Services. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church (10066 Yonge St., North of Major Mackenzie). Gord's family wish to thank all those at Princess Margaret Hospital who provided such loving care and support to him and his family during the past five years, Dr. Hans Messner, Dr. Karen Yee, Dr. Anna Rydlewski, nurse Justin Perry and all the nurses and staff in 14A and the Transfusion Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to AAMAC or The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
"Gord, you were the light of our lives and always will be. The void you have left will never be filled, but we are grateful knowing you are now at peace and free from pain with our loving Heavenly Father.
'Til we meet again."
