It is with deepest sadness that I learned only yesterday of the recent passing of Dan, my dear, dear friend of more than twenty years. My first thoughts are with Dan’s mother, Irene, his sister, Debbie, and his aunt Jean. I will keep you in my prayers, especially throughout this season.

I met Dan when we lived in the same apartment building in Etobicoke. Though there were years between us, we shared many common interests: discussion on a myriad of subjects, travel, walks around Toronto, music, mischief, and especially, laughter. Dan and I would often set out on routine Toronto music or dining-out evenings, only to have adventures find us. Dan would often say to me,”Heather, I’ve lived all my life in Toronto, but only when I go out somewhere with you, do these crazy things happen!”

No matter what I was up to in my life, I could always count on Dan for support, advice, a good laugh, and the true affection that a best friend doesn’t have to speak aloud.

Even after I moved away to the coast, we visited back and forth, phoned often, sent cards and emails. As time went by, we sometimes lost touch - the busy-ness of the world, a new romance, a misunderstanding - but we always knew that, sooner or later, we’d be chatting like old times.  Alas, no more...

My true friend, Dan. I know that one day I’ll see you again. But it will be a cold, hard wait.  And my heart will hurt for a long, long time.

I consider myself fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with Dan for the past year. Dan's insight and expertise, willingness to assist, and especially his great sense of humor, will always be remembered. Our early morning Skype chats started many a day with a few laughs. A wonderful person and dear colleague is gone far too soon. Rest in peace, my friend, you will truly be missed. Deepest sympathies to the Weldrick family at this very unexpected and difficult time.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. What a significant loss. Dan, you brought light and laughter to so many and you are deeply missed. Rest easy and I’m sure we’ll all meet again one day. To the Weldrick family, I know nothing I can say will take away the hurt, but I do wish you love, strength and comfort during this time.

My deepest condolences to Dan’s family.  We were all blessed to have known Dan.  Unfortunately I never met Dan in person but wish I did.   He was such a kind, thoughtful always caring person. Always ready to help where he could.  I am so sad with this terrible news.  He will be greatly missed. RIP Dan.

Dan,
I will miss you.  We have been friends for over 15 years.  Thank you for the dinners, laughter, inside jokes, support and friendship.  Our cues, that only we understand :-)  I am grateful that we were able to have our usual dinner again this year in May, a time when we were able to get all caught up again.  And, I am happy that we were able to hug each other after dinner (our usual at the bus stop :-)), never knowing that would be the last time that I would see you well or to hug you.  I know that you are now at peace.

My deepest sympathy to Dan's sister, mother and family and friends for our shared loss of this very special man. Like many others, I met Dan at work over 30 years ago.  He was young and handsome and an excellent worker. He remembered everyone he met and would tell me stories about people I had long ago forgotten. We shared many memories of walking, cycling, talking and debating that was always accompanied by peels of laughter. I will miss your wonderful playful voice and great laugh. You were a very good friend to me Dan. I loved you like the younger brother I never had. You helped me and stood by me when I needed you. You told me what I needed to hear even when it was hard to say. You taught me what's really important. I can't believe that we ran out of time together. We had so many ideas and places left to explore. You were too young to leave. My heart is broken. I pray that you are at peace now.  Until we meet again my dear friend. 

My deepest sympathies to Debbie and the family. I never got to meet Dan but I knew so much about him. He was someone that took care of his family and friends. Keep him forever in your hearts. He will always be with you.

Will miss you a lot, Dan. You have always been a such wonderful and gentle person to be around. Wishing your family our sincere condolences.

It's hard to forget someone who gives you so much to remember....Dan you will truly be missed and your time was way to short! I will miss our early morning chats. May you be at peace on the other side of the stars. My sincere condolences to your family.  

I am still in disbelief that this has happened.  I will miss our chats and your caring attitude.  You always worked so hard and put others before yourself - may you have all the happiness you deserve in afterlife.  My sincerest condolences to the family.  Farewell my friend.

You will sincerely and truly be missed by your friends and colleagues. My deepest condolences go out to your family. Dan you were always there for everyone in many ways shapes and forms, a true friend.  I miss our daily calls we had when I first joined DCT and your IM's when I was working on weekends and you told me to take a break :) now you can rest and look down from above and see that we all miss you and that you were a great person and friend.

Dan, you will truly be missed.  My deepest condolences go out to his family and all of his co-workers.  Dan was always there for everyone, a true friend.  I will miss his early morning calls just to "See how you are doing Jim"  Rest in peace Dan.  I have lost a true friend.

Dan we miss you very much, I even logged into our daily 1:1 call this morning wishing you be there. I will certainly miss your cottage stories and things happening at Liberty village.  You never failed to put a smile on our faces and always cherished your company and long talks.  We worked together for almost 3 years and I have never met a more genuine, caring and a self-less person in my life. RIP Dan and my thoughts and prayer will always remain with you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.  I will miss my chats with Dan, we've been working together for many years.  He was a kind, very hard worker who always was on top of what needed to be done.  I spoke to Dan a couple of weeks ago, he was always worried about everyone else.  He was a good man that will truly be missed.  

My deepest condolences to the family of Dan. I have had the great pleasure of working with and getting to know Dan over the past 4 years and developed a friendship with Dan. Dan will be sadly missed. Dan was a very hard working individual with great attention to detail. Dan was also a very humble person who always got the work done without the need for adulation or recognition for same (did not blow his own horn). As time passes, the program will realise how big a contribution Dan made to it's success. Again, my deepest condolences for your loss.

Not a day will go by when I shall not miss our daily follow ups to be done.
One half of our team is gone and now I feel all alone , I know you will be watching me from up there and reminding me "call and follow up with ............."
