A few in Irish are also considered to be appropriate in memory of Dearest Derek RIP. "Tá muid buartha faoi bás Derek", means we are extremely saddened at his death and wish to express our very sincere sympathy to you May and to all your family on your great loss and indeed on our shared loss. "Go mbeidh na h-Aingeail sna Flaithís ag fanacht leis" is an old Irish Blessing which translates to say "May the angels in Heaven be waiting for Derek". We will always remember Derek with great fondness as the consummate professional and a loyal friend as we keep you and all the family in our prayers at this very sad time. Derek was snatched too soon from all of us but he leaves a legacy and a virtuous mark on the engineering fraternity that exceeds most. In Derek's case we can also add that "death deals a heartache no one can heal but Derek's love of family and his special dedication to the Ontario engineering fraternity leaves a memory no one can steal."

I was sorrowful to hear of Derek;s passing. Derek and myself were both Councillors on PEO's Council. I found Derek to be a person of exceptional values of integrity,fairness and love for his profession. I know from my own experience the pain and loss you must be feeling.Please accept my sincerest sympathy.

I am greatly saddened hearing that Derek is no more. I had the privilege of working with him on sevaral committees at the PEO. Derek was a dedicated kind hearted gentleman. He placed his professionalism and principles above every thing. He will be greatly missed. My hearty condolences to the family.

Derek was a friend and a colleague as well as a respected Engineer and fellow member of Discipline Panel. derek and I served on Council and on Panels togher. His sense of fairness and balance as well as duty and commitment were conspicuous and present. Derek was a guiding light and mentor for me and I am saddened by his passing. Please know that he is in our hearts and prayers.

To Derek's family - I am greatly saddened by the news of Derek's passing. As a fellow engineer volunteering on the discipline committee, we would enjoy the numerous technical discussions that we had during our breaks and I was always intrigued by Derek's stories of the past. He will be dearly missed as a member of and contributor to the engineering profession. May his memories continue to be a source of happiness.

Derek was an engineer with what seem to be now old fashioned values of integrity and love for his profession. His qualities will be missed. I liked him and am sorry for his passing, and extend my sincerest sympathies to his family. Pat Quinn P.Eng.

I was privileged to have the opportunity to work with Derek when we became members of the Council of Professional Engineers of Ontario at the same time. I still remember his fierce determination to reserve Friday nights for his grandchildren. I am sure that they will miss him greatly! My sincerest condolences to all.

May, Linda and Debbie, My deepest sympathy. I hope sweet memories will bring you comfort and peace. In recent years I ran into Derek at Rogers Cup several times. We always had a nice chat and remembered earlier days at NYTC. I wish him everlasting peace.

We both enjoyed our bridge games with Derek and May and will miss Derek. A fine gentleman and excellent bridge player. We hope that May will continue with the bridge club.
