Dear Geoff and the entire family of Dorothy: I moved in to Thomson Court a year ago. I met Dorothy shortly thereafter at a meeting we each attended on a Monday night. Almost immediately I sensed a lovely connection with her and even a feeling that we were kindred spirits. She lived this life in years ahead of me so I was looking forward to getting to know her better. It was after knowing her at the meeting that I discovered she was at Thomson Court. She valiantly cheered me on at shuffleboard which I was reticent to get involved in and felt quite shy about it. I ended going because I wanted to see her there and to enjoy the amazing camaraderie that came out of such a diverse group. It seems so short a time ago that I saw Dorothy on her lovely new red scooter. we had such a nice chat about the freedom it was giving her and I really rejoiced in her absolute pleasure in that machine. I said that maybe one day I'd get one and we could have drag races up Markham Road. That was a thought that certainly appealed to her. She may not have known she would die so soon, but she certainly expected to outrace the speed limit with her new travel mode. Soon after the day I saw her on the Scooter, Dorothy came to my apartment with Geoff to deliver her old bridge table to me. I mentioned I was looking for one and in an instant she told me hers was mine. I was so grateful for that and am now delighted to have that lovely reminder of Dorothy in my home. I had hoped that I'd be having a much longer adventure with Dorothy and am very sad that I won't now have that opportunity. How much harder it must be for all of you who have had her for so long. I send you my sympathy and a prayer that all God's blessings come to you as comfort in the days ahead. Much of her graciousness must have come from being in a loving family and I thank you for that. Dear Geoff: We are very sad at the loss of your Mother Dorothy. Our many Wednesdays spent in her company at Wards Island Sunshine Centre in the summer were wonderful. Her pleasant disposition and hilarious sense of humor will be missed by us all. Our thoughts are with you and the family. Sincerely, Aleda, Faye and Doris

Dorothy had this infectious laugh. She even tried to master facebook to keep in touch with her grandchildren. How surprised i was to see she was mastering just fine...low and behold there was a facebook birthday message for me. Dorothy you will be missed Love Karen

Memories flooded my mind when I learned of Dorothy's death. We had not seen each other for decades, except the Glebe Reunion a few years ago, at which time all our friends hugged and kissed and chatted and laughed about the "good old days." Although we may not have known it at the time we formed a bond that would last for a life time. The loss of Ross at an early age, and Don - the wonderful Mum and Dad (Roy and Helen)and family rest firmly in my mind. As kids we were great friends, and we did so much together. I could go on and on, but suffice to say Dorothy will remain in my memory as a truly wonderful person, and a dear friend. I extend my sympathy to her family.
