Predeceased by her sisters, Ella and Jaye and her brother Allan. Loving Aunt of Bob, Paul, Kent, the late Glenn, Pat, Ron and the late Bill. Fondly remembered by Nora Sullivan (Paul) and Wendy Sullivan (Bob). Aunt Do was a proud member of the Smerdon, Sullivan and Graham clans.
Dorothy was independent and self-reliant all her life. She was a career businesswoman who worked for a number of Toronto companies including Atlas Steel and A.B. Dick in various management positions.
Her lifelong passion was playing sports. She was an accomplished athlete starting in high school with track & field, moving to softball and then basketball (a proud member of the 1948 Canadian Women’s National Basketball Championship Team). Later golf and curling took over and as a long-time member of Weston Country Club she won numerous events and awards. Her competitive drive was unique.
A special thanks to Nora for her unflinching care and management in Dorothy’s later years along with Lanie and Janice and the staff at West Park.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, October 27th at 11:30 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
