Born in Fossacesia, Abruzzo, Italy on March 10th, 1936. Francesco quickly matured coming to Canada at age of 16 and carried the strength, faith, and traditions of his homeland with him. In 1963, he officially immigrated to Canada with his newly wed wife, Elisabetta, in search of opportunity and a better future for their family. Together, through hard work and determination, they built a meaningful life in Toronto rooted with family morals.
Francesco proudly worked in construction for many years, dedicating himself to providing for those he loved. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and willingness to help others. A devout Christian at St Pascal Baylon Church, Francesco lived his life guided by faith, humility, compassion, and gratitude.
Outside of work, Francesco found joy in the simple and meaningful rhythms of home. He was a passionate gardener, enjoyed playing his favourite card games “Scopa” and “Tresette”, cheering for his favourite hockey team “The Habs” and pursued winemaking skills with great passion. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his wife and family. Francesco was a devoted husband, a proud Papa, and a loving Nonno. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family, sharing meals and the occasional glass of wine while telling stories about his life journey. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the generations he cherished so deeply.
Francesco is deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Elisabetta, and by his sons Anthony (Paola) and Giuseppe (Lorena). He was a proud Nonno to his 7 grandchildren: Kristen (Mike), Adam (Zrinka), Mark, Andre, Alexandra (Christian), Michael, and Brienna. He will also be remembered by his siblings Nicola (Gilda) and Giuliana (Michele), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Francesco is predeceased by Giuseppe DiBattista and Felice DiGiuseppe.
Francesco’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved. We are fortunate to have had him in our lives and that we have another guardian angel upon us. May he rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Francesco’s memory to the Diabetes Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
