G. Muriel Boe Whaley

Passed away peacefully at age 87 on Monday, August 18, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at home in Toronto. Muriel was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Laverne Whaley and by her first husband, Ronald Arthur Boe. Daughter of the late Anne and Lorne Keeling and sister of the late Doris (Eric) McIlwain and Joan (Don) Copeland. Proud and dedicated mother to Linda (Gary) Steele, Susan (John) Sherwood, Carol Whaley, Bruce (Susie) Whaley, Janice (Peter) Feanny. Loving and caring grandmother to Erin, Lindsay (Shawn Snider) and Jeffery Steele, Ryan (Lindsay), Justin (Robyn) and Breanne Sherwood, Yasmine, Derya and Kamil Whaley-Kalaora, Hannah and Adam Whaley, Molly, Tanner and Noah Feanny. Muriel was born on April 27, 1927 in Toronto, Ontario. Proud graduate of Allenby Public School and North Toronto Collegiate. She graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Household Economics (1949). Muriel was a committed member of the Beta Tau Sigma Fraternity XI Chapter, the Hyperion Club of St. James Bond Church Bible Study and two bridge clubs, the Bayview Village Bridge Club and the "Young" Bridge Club. Muriel was a dynamic volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross and the United Church Women. She was also a very active member of Forest Grove United Church. Muriel had a passion for knitting, baking, sewing, travelling the world, bridge, curling, family and her faith. She especially loved to welcome family and friends to share her oasis at the cottage in Muskoka. Visitation at R.S. Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. (6150 Yonge St. at Goulding, South of Steeles, North York). Memorial Service will be held at Forest Grove United Church (43 Forest Grove Dr., North York) on Friday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Forest Grove United Church, Family Network for Deaf Children or the Canadian Cancer Society.
