George "Papa George" Sidney Cassie

George was predeceased by his brother Tom and his parents, Ruth and James. He is survived by his beloved brother Duncan.

Born on September 9, 1955, in Toronto, George lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity.

He built a long and successful career as an insurance adjuster, dedicating much of it to Faber Insurance Adjusters, where his diligence and professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of work, George loved singing karaoke, cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and diving into books about World War II. His love for history inspired him to visit famous battlefields in Europe with his father.

George was fascinated by law enforcement, served as a police cadet and built a wonderful collection of model police cars. He enjoyed going live “on patrol” on YouTube with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department.

Known for his humour and generosity, George had a legendary ability to bring joy to those around him. Whether sharing a funny story, cracking a joke or performing his signature party tricks like hanging a spoon off his nose, George was adored by all—especially children, who delighted in his playful spirit.

George’s warmth and humour touched everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and laughter that will be cherished forever by his family, friends and all who knew him.

He was much loved and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, dear George.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 4, 2025 at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home (8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill ON, L4J 1W3)

Visitation at noon, followed by a service at 1pm. Reception afterwards at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in George’s memory.

George will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Mausoleum at a later date.
