

George passed away suddenly but peacefully, while away on a golf trip with friends in Florida, at the age of 55 years old. Loving husband of Kimberly for 23 years, proud and loving father of daughter Adrianna and son Nicholas. Only son of Louie and Jean Karkambasis (both predeceased). Caring son-in-law of Molly Sanders (Barry predeceased) and caring brother-in-law of Karen Sanders. George will be missed by many friends, family and co-workers.
George was a sports enthusiast. He was a competitive baseball player from a young age into his twenties and then continued to play rec level ball into his forties. His passion then switched from ball to golf in his later years. He was a member of the Briars Golf Club and travelled and played many high end courses in Arizona, California, and Florida.
George spent time working at the Toronto Harbour Commission, the City of Toronto, the Town of Aurora and finally working for the Town of Georgina where he spent the last twenty years.
George loved spending time with his friends and family, attending parties, sporting events, travelling and cheering on his kids at the baseball diamond, hockey rink and soccer field.
George touched many people’s lives with his warm, friendly and caring nature. He will always be remembered for his fantastic smile and incredible sense of humour.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 and Tuesday, February 13, 2023 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home - Thornhill (8088 Yonge St. Thornhill, ON)
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church (11323 Warden Ave., Markham, ON). Burial will follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery (1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill, ON)
A celebration of life will be held in the community at a later date
