Gerrit Jan de Wilde

On April 18th, 2011, at the age of 83 years, the Lord took home his child Gerrit Jan de Wilde after a courageous battle with prostate cancer and leukemia.

Gerrit was the loving husband of Corrie for 24 years. He was predeceased by his first wife of 31 years Sophia (Fia) Gerrit, was deeply loved by his children: Margaret, John, Rob and Gwen who will miss him very much, as will Corrie's children "the bonus" as Gerrit liked to call them: Jannetta and Phil VandenBerg, Carol and Fred Weening, Ingrid and David Long and all of the 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Gerrit (Opa) was proud of all of them and loved them very much.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening April 20th from 7-9 p.m. at the Willowdale Christian Reformed Church, 70 Hilda Avenue, Willowdale, ON.

A memorial service celebrating Gerrit's life will be held at the Willowdale Christian Reformed Church on Thursday April 21st at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Willowdale Christian School, 60 Hilda Avenue, Willowdale, ON M2M 1V5.
