On February 29, 2012, Gladys Muriel Spence, wife of Courtney Spence, mother of Herbert Spence, grandmother of Grant and Kelly, and great grandmother of Odette and Tyne, quietly passed away at the age of 96. Gladys was born on May 9, 1915 in Albany, New York, but spent most of her life in Canada. A graduate of Victoria College, University of Toronto Gladys was a career teacher and a devoted member of the Lansing United Church congregation in North York, Ontario. Gladys loved the many summer months of the year she spent at her and Courtney's cottage at Murray Corner, New Brunswick - she often looked back at those times as the best times of her life. Her family, friends and loved ones will miss Gladys but are happy with the wonderful years and opportunities we had to be with her. A Private Family Service will be held. Interment York Cemetery. The family would respectively ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the United Way or Providence Healthcare.
