Born in 1940 in the very small village of Latterbach in Switzerland, died in 2022 a resident of The Annex in his beloved city of Toronto.
Ueli, (Partner, Dad, Vati and Grossvati) left us on Thursday March 3 at 5:00pm.
If you are reading this and feeling shocked or sad, he would really want you to try to also be happy for him. He was ready to go.
Ueli was one of a kind, a man of style who loved sunshine as much as opera and architecture; bustling cities as much as the tranquility of nature. He was larger than life, with an optimism, and joie de vivre unmatched by many. He had a boundless gratitude for the wonderful life he lived.
Once he knew he could not recover from his health issues he took matters into his own hands, arranged his exit on his own terms (via MAiD), and made haste in doing so.
Ueli leaves behind and wanted to thank his partner Leslie, who brought him ‘joy’ every time he looked at her and with whom he enjoyed a ‘fabulous’ evening of his life. He would also like to acknowledge with deep appreciation, his former wife Rita (deceased 2005) for sharing a family life that was second to none. Ueli wanted to thank once again, his sons Marc and Bruce for turning out so well; becoming the good men that they are, and making him so very proud. He would also like to thank his daughter in law Diane and stepsons Josh (Janya) and D’Arcy (Hannah). In addition, he wants to thank his grandchildren Cameron (Sophie), Lena (Jonah), Eric and Heidi and step grandchildren Nyah and Maisie and great granddaughters Georgia and Delilah for giving him the incredible gift of being fully part of their young lives and for all the hugs and laughter and tears.
Ueli wanted to send a huge thank you to all of his clients who became friends and the friends who became clients over his 56-year long career in Yorkville. He needs you to know he enjoyed every minute of it.
To his many colleagues, neighbours and friends, you know who you are, many, many thanks for all that we shared.
Ueli leaves a big void in the hearts of his family and his friends but he knew we would go on, as we must, to create new and exciting chapters in the stories of our lives. He was sorry that he will not be around to be part of it all, but we will do our “Honest My God” best to make him proud.
The entire family wish to extend their thanks and gratitude to all the nurses and doctors at University Health Network who cared for Ueli and an extra thanks to the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) team who heard Ueli from the first minute they met him and helped us all to send him on his way with love and dignity. They granted him his last wish!
Alles Gute
