Mrs. Helen Janet Hooper

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Helen Janet McCarthy Hooper who passed away peacefully on January 6th at the age of 97. Born in Quebec City, and married and residing in Toronto for the majority of her life, she is survived by her children, David (Karen), Alan (Noella), Robin (Vicki) and Diana (Bob). She was a pillar of strength, resilience and dignity after the love of her life, our father, Colin Hooper, died 44 years ago.

Dedicated Daughter-in-law, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandma, Nan, she embraced all her roles in life with generosity, elegance and grace. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sister Josephine McCarthy (Sacred Heart), Rosa (Posie) Morant, William McCarthy, and Mary Moore. She leaves behind her greatest joy: her many grandchildren, Taralyn, Ryan, Bradley, Kaitlin, Jennifer, Christopher, Justin, Nicole, Kevin and Cindy-Lee..

Many Air Force friends were "adopted" by her when her 4 children were part of 400 Squadron. Her home was always open to all. She generously donated to many causes including sponsoring children through World Vision for over 32 years.

A huge thank you to the incredible staff at Gibson LTC who patiently and lovingly took such good care of her.

A private Funeral Mass will be held.
