Herbert Walter Shea

We are grateful that he is free of his long struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He is predeceased by his former wife Helen Shea, his parents Walter and Louisa (Valiquette), and eight siblings.

He was deeply loved by his wife Barbara (O'Neill), and by his children Charles (Diane), Linda (Wayne) and Karen.

Bert was so very proud of his grandchildren Melanie, Rosemary, Joy Christine, Joseph and Jonathan, and they will miss his gentle guidance.

Bert also cherished his twin brother Dick (Connie) of Montreal. Bert's beloved nephew Philip Shea (Sally), in his role as physician and companion,

provided Bert with immeasurable comfort during his illness.

Barbara's children Neil Glenny, Deborah Reesor, Mary Clare Fenn and Blair Glenny, along with their families, are very grateful to have had

Bert in their lives.

Bert was born and raised in Outremont, Quebec. He enjoyed a satisfying and successful career with Imperial Oil, retiring from his position as Corporate

Manager of Ontario in 1984. He especially loved playing golf at the Bayview Country Club in Toronto, and the Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida.

His golfing companions were among his dearest friends.

Bert's character was shaped by his dedication to his family and his friends, and by his deep and enduring faith. During his life, he shared his love and his

talents with those people and organizations who served the poor, the sick, the lonely and the aged. He left us a legacy of love and decency which will guide us

through the remainder of our lives.

While we mourn his absence, we are comforted by the knowledge that he has found his place of peace, and his deep and abiding faith will continue to inspire us.

The funeral service will be held at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 3220 Bayview Avenue, Toronto (Bayview and Finch), on Tuesday, May 10th, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will follow at Thornhill Golf and Country Club, 7994 Yonge Street, Thornhill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Villa Centre in memory of Bert, or to the charity of your choice.
