Iona “Jean” Smith (nee Hook) passed peacefully May 6th 2023 at Southlake Hospital. Jean is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Ann Smith (the late Robert Kernohan), and her son Robert Charles Smith (Cynthia Haffner), her grandchildren Ashley Jean Smith, Taylor Robert Smith, and Michael Gregory Gommer.
Jean is predeceased by and has gone to rest with her husband Wilbur Charles Smith, and her daughter Bonnie Jean Hamilton.
Jean will be remembered as a loving mother who was devoted to family and loved every moment she spent with them, will be remembered for her commitment to her church, will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing and ability to make every event a special occasion.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Southlake Hospital for their compassionate care.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 9:30am until time of funeral service at 10:30am in the chapel at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home – Thornhill. Burial will follow at the Thornhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Jeans memory to the Trinity United Church, Annan ON or the Thornhill Presbyterian Church, Thornhill ON.
