On July 26, 2022, Jean (nee Piela) Del Brocco passed away in her 90th year in Toronto, with her daughter, Valerie, by her side. Jean is the beloved wife of Luigi (Lou), her best friend and loving husband of 59 years who passed away in 2018. Jean was born on July 20, 1932 and grew up in Sudbury, ON. Jean leaves behind her children: David (Kim), Valerie, & Louis Junior (Barb); grandchildren: Lauren (Vernon), Taylar, Mateo, Miaelena, Michael (Lisa), Blake & Jenna; and sisters-in-law: Virginia (100) & Marie Rosa (106). Predeceased by parents Karol & Valerja and brother Chester & wife Jaqueline.
Jean and Lou owned Agincourt Trophy in Scarborough, ON. Jean was actively involved in youth hockey having served on the organizing committee of the Timmy Tyke Tournament for many years. She was the first female ever to be nominated for the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Toronto Hockey League. She was a movie extra actor in major Hollywood motion pictures including Head Office. She played the piano and loved listening to classical music during her retirement years with Lou at Lake Dalrymple near Orillia before moving to the Rayoak Place retirement residence in Toronto.
The family will receive friends at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge St., Thornhill on Fri. August 5th from 4 pm to 8 pm followed by a funeral mass on Sat. August 6th at 10:30 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church at 222 Ridley Blvd (Avenue Rd & Wilson). A celebration reception will follow at the Crystal Towers at 2 Covington Road (Bathurst & Lawrence).
