My friendly Joanne, you are one amazing power house of a woman.  Thank you for friending me and my children and having us in your life. My kids still remember the Easter hunt at your place and the other visits.  Keep living the good life, you always inspired me to do better.   Xo ps, I didn't know your middle name was Beverly ;)

We were so saddened to hear of Cousin Joanne's passing.  We remember her for her exuberant warmth and her caring spirit.   Her deep love for her family was evident in the cards we received each year.  There was always a big smile on her face, and usually an arm wrapped around someone from the younger generation.  We know the beautiful light of her spirit  will remain with you all.  Our condolences to all the family.

I am deeply saddened and  still in shock of the new of Joanne's death.  I had the opportunity to get to know her at the local gym we attended together every Saturday over the past year.  She was always so happy and would sometimes share an story or experience of a recent encounter she had.  She loved travelling and often spoke of her trips and gave me tips on ways to save on travel.  If she wasn't travelling, she was doing something fun and enjoying her friends and retired life.  She also taught some of the aquafit classes as a substitute instructor and she put all her energy and life into making the classes fun even when it was one of the classes she would normally attend as a participant.  She was so excited to get her instructors license and had a vibrant outlook at all her other future endeavours.  We had a lot of interesting conversations and shared quite a few interests.  I will miss her very much and she will always be remembered for her wonderful smile and disposition.

It was so nice reading all the wonderful stories from all the people Joanne connected with for so many years. She truly lived life to the fullest each and every day and there are few people I know who have maintained such long lasting relationships with so many people for so many years. Joanne and I were double cousins as her father and my father are brothers and her mother and my mother are sisters. She was really like an older sister who looked out for me, played with me and was always there for me from the time I was born. As we grew older, that caring support extended to my children who will miss their Auntie Joanne. We spent many family gatherings together at Hazel and Stanley’s place, Joanne’s place and many other places.  It wasn’t about where we were but just about being together and I will treasure every memory. I will remember Joanne for her very positive outlook on life, always seeing the good in everyone and never fearing any challenges. Despite the many difficulties she encountered over the past 7 years, she saw each challenge as a new opportunity and even in her final days, she told me that although she could no longer control her remaining time, she was so glad that when she was in control she decided to travel the world and at least have those memories to treasure. So as my dear cousin leaves us, I will honor her memory by thinking about all the lives she touched in so many wonderful ways and try to always be grateful for all we have and think about how we can continue to touch the lives of others as well through the spirit and strength of Joanne’s love for all.  RIP my love.

A tribute to JoAnne Trotter – jubilant, generous, genuine – a confidant, friend, fellow traveler and role model
JoAnne was my sister from another Mother and Father. We shared a love of theatre, learning and travel and our lives were intertwined in so many ways.  
We worked together at Seagram’s in 1983, travelled and hung out a lot before Sam and I married. She was there the night Sam & I met and subsequently was my Maid of Honour.  She was there when we picked up our baby Dachshund, Lola. My godson, Markus rented an apartment from her for many years. 

Over the years, Sam and I visited her in England and New Brunswick, two places she relocated to for work.  JoAnne and I travelled together to Taiwan in October of 2018 to visit my niece, Emma and to meet her (now) husband, Max.  Sam and I accompanied her on her 60th birthday Mediterranean cruise last year, along with seven of her lady friends. It was JoAnne’s self- proclaimed “Age of Enlightenment Cruise.” She will be greatly missed by so many friends and family.  Let’s toast JoAnne’s “live life with no regrets” approach and honour her memory by leading our own lives with her joyous spirit as our guide.    


RIP Joanne.  It sounds like you touched many people with your lovely smile and sunny personality.

Auntie JoAnne was the best person ever, especially on Easter. She would have really fun epic Easter egg hunts and every year we would go to her house for Easter and pool parties.   This year even though we couldn’t go to her house she still gave us so much candy!  She always included us and made us feel welcome. She also included us in her awesome zoom family scavenger hunts and games days.   We will miss her so much!

It is wonderful to read the amazing tributes and memories of ‘Auntie Joanne’.  She was clearly loved and appreciated by everyone she met and touched so many lives. 
In our family, Grace, Samuel and Patrick have been fortunate because Auntie Joanne was like a fifth grandparent. She has been present throughout the kids’ lives for all of their special moments: birthdays, dance competitions, basketball games, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, and the list goes on. She was even the Easter bunny herself! – putting together Easter egg hunts culminating in overflowing baskets of treats! For our children, along with our nieces and nephews – they will never forget the Easter fun. 
Auntie Joanne always made sure to have experiences with the children. We enjoyed fun in the sun in Jamaica as well as in Florida having adventures at Universal Studios. She also shared her love of theatre with the kids – and they have enjoyed many productions with her over the years – especially, Grace. The last production we saw together was “The Illusionists” in January 2020, shortly prior to everything shutting down. 
Despite the shut down – Auntie Joanne continued to shine her bright light. In her saying – “we don’t want ‘social distancing’ to become ‘social isolation’”. So she was the leader of the Zoom calls! 
Luckily we were able to visit with Auntie Joanne at her pool this summer before she fell ill. She loved that pool and generously enjoyed sharing it with family and friends!
Auntie Joanne has led such an accomplished life full of travel and adventure. She really lived each moment with joy and a beautiful smile. As Ron (Jen’s dad) always says, “Joanne is such a sweetie pie”!
We will forever miss Auntie Joanne, but will always remember her ability to bring people together and to create unforgettable life experiences that will truly be treasured.

 Oh JoAnne, you have left us with a void in our family.  Like I always 
shared with you and referred to you as a person that made me 
comfortable and confident in the Trotter family. Joanne you received 
me with open hands. You made me to feel comfortable among the 
Trotters. You took -me, led me, and showed me how to be myself and 
to be part of the Trotter family. Talking about your kindness you 
warmed my heart, spirit, and body. You have left us so early; we cannot 
imagine the life without you in our family. Michael and I shall always 
remember the good times we had together. May your soul rest in 
eternal peace forever. 




Deepest sympathy and condolences to JoAnne’s large extended family and friends. Her loss will be felt my many and we need to remember how much joy she felt and brought to everyone. She constantly had a smile and dealt with any challenges smoothly. She was a great friend and I only wish we had her for longer. She is now looking over us and we need to remember her great spirit.

JoAnne and I had a very nice Professional relationship.  I was honored to have her trust and respect. I will never forget our goodbye conversation.   JoAnne was brave till the end and had No regrets in life.. she lived life to its fullest.. I wish I had many more years getting to know her even better..

JoAnne was my next door neighbour and it didn't take long before we became friends.  She was so kind and generous. When we discovered that we worked a block away from each other, JoAnne offered to drive me to work - we carpooled together for almost 2 years, until she chose to retire.  She often invited me to join her at her pool as we both loved to swim.  In fact, JoAnne convinced me to join Aqua fit with her at LA Fitness! Keeping in stride to achieve better health,  we joined a Naturopathic, Clear Medicine, Bootcamp, instructed by Dr. Natasha Turner, ND.  It was interesting, to say the least!  JoAnne also gave me career advise. I am so thankful for her friendship and I'm grateful for having met her.  I will miss my friend.

You're an angel with God now... no more illness or pain.  May you rest peacefully for all eternity with everlasting love 🙏🏽

Oh, JoAnne, you leave such a void in so many lives, but how lucky are we to have had you in our lives!  I remember us living next door to each other and every day was wonderful and precious.  Two little kiddos in Kindergarten with so many adventures.  I missed you so much when you moved and I knew there would never be another friend as magical as you.  We lost touch but thanks to the internet we connected again.  It was as if no time had passed - you were just as magical all those years later.  Your kindness, graciousness, thoughtfulness, and that twinkle in your eyes were the same as ever.  My heart hurts now that you are no longer with us here on earth, but I take great comfort in knowing we will meet again.  Love you JoJo.

Although I had not met JoAnne  I feel   like I knew her already, first because of the great  resemblance between her and my brother in law Michael but also from what I have heard about her from my sisters  Annette and Naome.   I understand she was a warm and very loving person and we thank her for supporting Annette the best way possible.  This is to join others in expressing our deepest sympathies to  Michael, Annette and the entire Trotter family. May she rest peacefully and may God comfort you all as you mourn her loss.

I met her briefly at last Christmas dinner of 2019 at her sisters house .She was a friendly person and very welcoming and we had a great conversation like we had met for many years back. She will be sadly missed and  Jo Anne has been a loving sister in law  to my cousin Annette Hope Trotter.
She will be greatly missed. May her family ,friends and all those who knew her remember the good times and the good things that she did for all  selflessly. May her soul rest in eternal peace and let us all be comforted that she has gone to our Lord. She will continue to walk with her loved ones she  left behind for the rest of their life .She will  always be the shining star above .

Great memories of a wonderful person. Our days at Reckitt bonded us through some interesting times. You were my partner in crime for many years there. Always in my memory. Rest well and keep smiling.

JoAnne and I worked together at McCain Foods and I was lucky enough to work with her on multiple teams. She was such a positive and bright person that becoming her friend was just natural.

JoAnne will forever be remembered by my family as she is part of the story of my first child's birth. We were in Chicago for a project and my wife went into very early labour. My wife couldn’t get through to me but knew I was travelling with JoAnne. JoAnne simply said, "You need to call your wife and book a flight home!" It all ended well and JoAnne got to meet my daughter not long afterwards. 

My family’s thoughts are with you, she was a wonderful person and she’ll be greatly missed.

Joanne is one of the most loved persons we have known.  Her warm heart, bright eyes and brilliant smile touched everyone she encountered.  Joanne genuinely cared for your needs whether you were family, friend or mere acquaintance.  A true friend and respected professional she impacted us all.  We will always fondly remember warm summer days lazing by her pool and sharing stories, wine and food.  Leaving this world you broke many hearts Joanne but we know you enjoyed a life well lived and now at last rest in peace with the angels.

I got to know JoAnne through her volunteer efforts with HRPA.  She had an innate way of making each individual, regardless of how large the group, age or experience, know that they  are valued.  Thank you JoAnne for teaching me how to truly listen and be actively engaged.  I am honoured to have shared that time with you.

JoAnne was my first mentor upon my graduation from Western in 2009. She encouraged me to volunteer within our HR association and guided me through my first year in the corporate world. We bonded over our love for brunch and would try new spots every time we met during the program year. Over the years, I’d run into JoAnne and it would feel as if no time had passed since we last spent time together. I still keep this photo, which was taken that year we were first introduced, because JoAnne helped me get my foot off the ground and I will always cherish that. 

I was so saddened to hear about JoAnne's passing. I taught her mindfulness, and remember her as a wonderful participant and advocate, full of positivity and light. My condolences go out to her friends and family as I know she will be missed.

I worked with JoAnne at McCain Foods in Florenceville NB.  JoAnne was a breath of fresh air. Her words were not complicated but very to the point and they always carried a message. Sometimes one would have to take a minute and hear the words  again, before the message sunk in. Once the meaning was voiced out loud you would hear JoAnn’s yes and now what.  Always taking you to the next level.  I will so miss her

We were saddened to hear of Jo-Anne’s passing.  Jo-Anne was a fun loving happy person whom we knew for just over 47 years, a lot of great memories. Your smile will be missed.  ❤️ R.I.P.

Over the course of these years, I have enjoyed JoAnne's company during countless visits, trips, excursions, meals and theater occasions.  

I loved JoAnne's joy, sense of adventure, optimism, and counsel/point of view on topics of discussion.  I will sorely miss her and these things.

I had the pleasure to become friends with JoAnne about 20 years ago when we had both transferred to the UK for work.  Living in a foreign country makes your good friends seem like family and creates a strong bond.  Over the course of these years, I have enjoyed JoAnne's friendship and company on many occasions through countless visits, trips, outings, meals and theater.  I loved JoAnne's joy, sense of adventure, optimism, and her counsel/opinion on topics of discussion.  I will sorely miss her!!

I met JoAnne years ago through a Meetup book club when I was new to Toronto and didn't know many people.
She was such a lovely woman with a great laugh and an infectious smile. Our little meetup group would sometimes get together for fun outside of the book club and go out for dinner, go to Blue Jays games and she was kind enough to host us at our house one summer and there was even a birthday cake for me, which was so kind and thoughtful!
I hadn't seen JoAnne in a few years, since life happens and I wasn't able to keep up with the book club, but I always liked seeing her posting her adventures on Facebook.
I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to her friends and family. 
I will always remember her fondly.

When I close my eyes, I see JoAnne’s warm smile, I hear her infectious laugh and feel her outstretched welcoming arms. When I think back to those “good old HRPA Board days” there’s a lot of very cherished memories and many milestones that we all shared together. I had the fortunate opportunity to briefly work with JoAnne again in 2019. She was always candid, spoke her mind and always let you know where she stood (and sometimes where she thought I should!) – She brought friendship and great energy to all those who knew her. JoAnne will be sadly missed by many.

A great light has been lost.  I knew Joanne through Human Resources (HRPA) events.  You always knew where Joanne was as she was the center of attention .  .  . everyone was gathered around her and she was the one everyone wanted to talk to.
She always made people smile and feel good about themselves!
Joanne will be missed by us all.

What a loving, caring, happy person JoAnne was!  Always ready to lend a hand, give advice  and guidance when asked. JoAnne loved to travel- the cruise industry will miss her! She took full advantage of visiting other countries while working at home and abroad, and left this life with no regrets. Our last physical encounter was attending live theatre in February to see the much anticipated production of Hamilton along with some of her theatre friends.  JoAnne I will miss you,  and will cherish the memories  of our times together.  RIP and know you were loved and will be missed by so many!

We remember most Joanne’s great laugh and welcoming smile. Always positive. Always laughing.  Such a generous spirit. At one Trotter family reunion we were lucky to stay with Joanne.  Despite the busy reunion activities, Joanne insisted we trek out with her in to the Toronto Jazz Festival.  It was such a great time with her.  

Our thoughts and prayers are with her and all her extended family.  May God’s grace keep each in this most difficult time.  Her loss is great.  Her legacy greater.

I worked with Joanne for only a few months and I remember her as being a very kind, caring and genuine person. I’m extremely saddened to hear the news of her passing. My condolences to the family.

I met Joanne through a mutual friend at a Theatre Meetup. She was amazing from the getgo. We saw quite a bit of theatre together as well as with mutual friends.  Joanne had knee replacement surgery last year and 6 months later so did I. She loaned me all of the necessary healing aids, cane, walker, ice wrap machine etc. She was a very generous person. Joanne always made me feel welcome, acknowledged, important and cared for. She brought joy and laughter  into every space she entered. I will miss her. 

I've known JoAnne for a few years through Meet UP (Thumbs Up Theatre and other groups).  The last time I saw her, in person, was on January 5, 2020.  The Meetup group  went to see a documentary film about Barbara Streisand:  "Becoming an Icon" and ,typically, we went to a (Hungarian) restaurant -- Pauper's Pub (?) after the show to discuss the show, get to know each other, and socialize.

After Covid-19 hit, I saw JoAnne several times on Zoom when she hosted the Home Scavenger Hunt and several TV Sitcom Trivias -- which were lot's of fun and very memorable.   The  last Zoom meeting (Pub Night) was supposed to be on September 12, 2020.  That's when I found out that it was cancelled because she had been hospitalized.  I wondered if she had contracted Covid-19 as I didn't know she was sick.

She was such a pleasant person.  The memory that stands out most in my mind is her beautiful smile and soft-spoken kindness.

May she rest in Peace and may her loved ones find comfort in the memories of her and knowing how well she was liked by so many people in this world.   I would have loved to share a photo from the restaurant, however, it includes several people from our group and I don't have their permission to share it.

JoAnne was a dear friend. Loyal, supportive, a lot of fun and up for anything. We traveled, did the dinner thing more often than I can count as well as interesting events. This picture was taken last fall when we went to try our hand at Truffle-Making. Hers of course, looked great.  I will miss her immensely. 

I had the privilege to meet Joanne twice this year thru the theatre group. Joanne had the ability to  easily connect with people wherever she went. Just being in her presence encouraged my  zest for life  and  enthusiasm to try new  activities. Thank you Joanne, R.I.P.
