John Norman Kearns

Beloved husband of Marie (Comella), and adored father for Michelle Small (Steve). Brother to Jane Kozma (Syl) and Paul (Collette). Preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Margaret and brother Bruce (Leela). Loving Grandpa to Logan and Addie, and a great uncle to many neices and nephews.

John was married to the love of his life, Marie, for 57 years. They loved to travel, mostly to Wisconsin to spend time with their granddaughters, whom John adored. He loved watching them play in their orchestras, and couldn't wait to hear what new music they were learning. They never failed to put a smile on his face, and they shared many secrets. ABOOH!

John worked for the North York Fire Department, following in his father's footsteps, for 30 years, and he was Chief of Fire Prevention when he retired.

John made friends wherever he went. He was kind and generous to a fault. He leaves behind many to remember his dry sense of humor, great cooking and many wonderful times spent together.

We wish to thank all of the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at NYGH, who went above and beyond to take care of him and also befriend him.

We are so grateful to all of our family and friends for all of their love and support they have shown to us during this difficult time. We couldn't have gotten through all of this without each and every one of you.

A private visitation will be held for family and close friends.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at Church of the Good Shepherd, 21 Simonston Blvd,Thornhill, ON.

Reception to follow Funeral Mass at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes , 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON.
