John James Lloyd MacKay

Died peacefully, with his loving family at his side, on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at Extendicare, York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Mary for 60 years. Dear father of Janet Thompson and her husband Bill and Ian and his wife Sandra. Devoted grandfather of Mary, Robert and Mike Thompson of Woodstock, ON and Lindsay, Kristen and Mark MacKay of Calgary, AB. Predeceased by his brother Stanley and his wife Marjory of Thunder Bay, ON. Jack will be missed by his nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.

Born in Fort William, ON, in 1915, graduate of University of Toronto and University of Western Ontario. Jack was administrator of Shouldice Hospital, for over 30 years. He was a long time member of Thornhill Presbyterian Church, enthusiastic, dedicated volunteer and supporter of many community activities; minor sports, Markham and York County District School Boards, Unionville Home Society, CHATS, and a founder of Thornhill Seniors and many others.

Visitation, on Sunday, February 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Memorial service will be held at Thornhill Presbyterian Church (271 Centre Street) on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 1 o'clock.
