John Alexander Trist

General Hospital.

Only adored child of the late Edmund James Trist and Katherine Gladys Stephenson.

Beloved Husband for 72 years to the late Florence Jane Foster.

Dear and much loved Father to John Trist and his wife Cheryl, and to Kathy and her husband Paul

Richardson.

Loving Grandpa to Michael Richardson and his fiancee Lindsay and to Jan Richardson and her husband

Brandon Prest.

Jack was born in Toronto and attended Davisville Public School, the highlight was winning the City of

Toronto Public School Hockey Championship (with his long time friend Roy Tredgett).

Jack went to North Toronto High School, was a veteran of WWII and graduated in 1949 from University of

Toronto’s Civil Engineering program. He went on to be a Professional Engineer and work in the

construction field.

In 1963 Jack started Trist Construction Limited with the help of another longtime friend Leeds

Richardson. This construction company flourished and Jack was very successful.

He sat on the Ontario General Contractor’s Board for many years, being the President for the 1979-1980

term.

Jack was a great athlete. He enjoyed golf at Thornhill Country Club, skiing at Devils Glen Country Club

and racquet sports and Bridge Games at the Granite Club with his many longtime friends.

Jack had a wonderful long and happy life with Florence as they traveled the world.

He had a great sense of humor, always had a joke to tell and was incredibly optimistic about life.
