Joyce Wheway

At home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the age of 81 Joyce passed away. Beloved wife of the late Alastair. Loving mother of Christina (Jeffrey Grigg) and Jacqueline (Christopher Bacon). Cherished grandmother to Ashley, Matthew and Lindsay, Rory and Genevieve. Joyce is survived by her sister Margaret Stewart of Doncaster, England. She had a distinguished career as a WREN in England, then immigrated to Canada, and continued her career with the Federal Government working for Manpower and Immigration. On retirement she enjoyed cruising out of Ashbridges Bay yacht club, reading, theatre and travelling. Joyce was active with the Ontario Conservative Party, and the Business Woman's Institute. She will be sadly missed by her family, and friends. Thank you for the support of the nurses, S.E.N.A.C.A, and the PSWs especially Amy, and Anna.

Friends may call at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Celebration of life to follow the service. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
