Kenneth Walter Schmidt

Kenneth Walter Schmidt, 81 years of New Denmark, NB passed away in Aurora, Ontario on July 13, 2016. Ken was born in New Denmark, on September 23, 1934 to Emmy and Mathias Schmidt. Ken was a Massey Ferguson dealer and mechanic in New Denmark and partner with his father and son Mitchell in the business M.J. Schmidt & Son of New Denmark.

Ken always enjoyed lending a hand to people wherever he went, be it fixing something, mowing someone's lawn, snow plowing or whatever was needed. He was generous when giving and thorough when working. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, spending time at his camp by the Tobique river, Nascar racing, boxing, farming, animals and the country life. He was a proud member of many organizations within the community. He was a sound pillar to his family and always mild mannered. He managed to navigate his way through life with grace and dignity, always following the guiding principal to treat others as he would have them treat him.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marion (Betty) Schmidt, his devoted daughter Krista Schmidt, brother, Lloyd Schmidt and his wife Laura Schmidt, his sister Ketty Poirier, grandchildren, Michael Jensen Schmidt and his wife Melissa Schmidt and Nicholas Henry, and great grandchildren, Aaron, Leah, and Aubree Schmidt, daughter-in-law, Patricia Schmidt-Henry and Mitchell Henry. And was predeceased by his sons Walter Schmidt and Mitchell Schmidt, and brother-in-law Emile Paul Poirier.

Ken's family would like to thank all those who provided care and support during this time. Ken will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received at the memorial services held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New Denmark, NB on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with a Church Luncheon to immediately follow. Private burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken's name to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
