Leslie was born in Sterling Mine, Nova Scotia on June 20, 1931 and grew up in Truro Nova Scotia.
Les moved to Southern Ontario with his family as a teenager. Here is where he found employment that matched his fondness for being on the road. Les landed employment opportunities as a milk man and then a personal chauffer. While on a driving assignment to Cleveland House Resort in Muskoka, he met the love of his life Margaret there. Les and Marg were married for 46 years before Margaret’s passing in 2007.
Les spent the majority of his working career as a Voyageur Coach Operator with 34 years of service.
Les was a dedicated, loving father and proud Papa, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored his three grandchildren and was always there to support them at their many sporting events and performances.
He was the fun uncle/grandpa entertaining the kids with magic tricks and games.
Les enjoyed entertaining people by telling stories, which always ended with a punch line. He was quick witted and could come up with a joke in the midst of any conversation.
He enjoyed fishing and always enjoyed his yearly fishing trip to NFLD to visit relatives and to “catch the big one”.
Les enjoyed gardening (and sharing his roses with the grandchildren), and travelling, especially to Florida for family vacations, puttering in his workshop, playing euchre and rummikub, meeting friends for coffee at Tim Hortons and trips to the casino.
Les was a kind and giving man with a big heart, who always thought of others first.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
